Seated/supine, leg extended.
Part position
Foot dorsiflexed 90°, leg and foot true AP.
Central ray
Midway between the malleoli, perpendicular.
IR placement
10x12 lengthwise centered to ankle joint.

Tech pearls

  • Dorsiflexion prevents talus tilt.
  • Use a long strap if the patient can't hold position.
