Patient position
Seated or supine, leg extended.
Part position
Foot dorsiflexed 90°, leg long axis vertical.
Central ray
Axial: 40° cephalic to base of 3rd MT. Lateral: perpendicular to mid-calcaneus.
IR placement
18x24 cm.
Tech pearls
Use a strap for dorsiflexion if the patient can't hold.
Lateral with leg lying flat — knee supported on sponge.
