Anatomy coverage

Distal phalanges through calcaneus/talus.

Tech pearls

  • For weight-bearing foot, use horizontal CR.
  • Lateral with the foot truly perpendicular to the IR — use a sponge.

Image evaluation

  • AP: open TMT joints between 1st–2nd cuneiforms
  • Oblique: 3rd–5th metatarsal bases free, sinus tarsi open
  • Lateral: tibiotalar joint open, fibula over posterior tibia

Common mistakes

  • Forgetting the 10° CR angle on AP
  • Foot not flat on lateral (plantar surface not perpendicular)
