Part position
Lumbar puncture (L3–L4); non-ionic contrast injected into subarachnoid space.

Perpendicular to area of interest (cervical, thoracic, or lumbar).
IR placement
Per region.
Tech pearls
Patient lies flat 4–6 hr post-procedure to prevent spinal headache.
Almost always followed by post-myelogram CT for cross-sectional detail.
