Tech pearls

  • Orient image so anatomical right = patient right (regardless of C-arm direction).
  • Always announce 'image' before exposure so staff can step back.
  • Drop intensifier toward patient, raise tube — reduces magnification AND scatter.

Image evaluation

  • Image shows what surgeon needs (alignment, reduction, hardware position)

Common mistakes

  • Breaking sterile field
  • Wrong orientation (image flipped)
  • Moving C-arm without warning
