Seated, elbow flexed 90°, wrist on ulnar side.

Part position

True lateral — thumb up, radius and ulna superimposed.

Central ray

Perpendicular to the midcarpal area.

Tech pearls

Use a sponge under the hand to maintain a true lateral.
Line the thumb up with the radial styloid.
